Charlton Community Gardens – September at the Station

ccg

An update and some dates for your diary from Charlton Community Gardens:

Autumn is just around the corner and our plans are turning to the next stage of the Charlton Station garden. In September we will have two clearing Sundays, followed by installation and planting of two more raised beds and planting a wildlife friendly area.

We look forward to gardening with many of our waterers and gardeners on the next two clearance days:

  • Sunday 1 September at 2 pm
  • Sunday 8 September at 10 am

Please wear stout shoes, bring gardening gloves and garden forks, spades and loppers, if you have them. Don’t hesitate to come along without gloves and tools, though – as we have some to lend.

More news to follow on the raised beds and planting session(s).

A note from Charlton Community Gardens on upcoming activities at their Charlton station plot:

This week on Thursday 25 July from 5 til 6 pm we will be spreading some wood chips on the paths. If you can make it, please bring along any tools you would like to use, especially spades, rakes and even wheelbarrows!

Future dates for your diary:

Sunday 1 September at 2 pm – a working party to clear the end area before the raised beds arrive. Please wear stout shoes, bring gardening gloves and tools if you have them.

Sunday 8 September at 10 am – another working party to finish off stump clearing and litter picking. Again please make sure you’re protected from any sharps in the soil with boots and gloves. We do have gloves and tools for you to borrow.

Wednesday 11 September from 10am – filling the raised beds with soil/compost

Thursday 12 September from 6pm until sundown – planting up the raised beds.

Charlton Community Gardens plant sale – Thursday 13 June

ccgCharlton Community Gardens have been in touch to tell us about a plant sale they’re holding on Thursday 13 June at Charlton Station. It’s an opportunity to meet the people behind the Community Gardens project and check out the progress they’ve made. If you’re interested in finding out more, or getting involved (they need more help with their watering rota, for example), email charltoncommunitygardens [at] gmail.com.
