Charlton Toy Library’s Christmas Appeal

Charlton Toy Library

A message from Charlton Toy Library about their Christmas appeal:

Charlton Toy Library is a charity maintained by fundraising. As well as a toy borrowing service and stay-and-play sessions, we also run an outreach programme. Our outreach worker visits four women’s refuges in the area, lending books, toys and games to the children. To help these children – who have no toys at Christmas – we are aiming to raise £1,000 in donated toys/donations for toys to be used in our outreach programme. If you are clearing out cupboards for Christmas and have toys that you can donate to the library we would be most grateful. Alternatively, if you would like to give us a donation to buy toys, please visit our Virgin Money Giving site to donate and put in the comments box that the funds are for ‘outreach toys’.

You can find out more about the work that Charlton Toy Library does at: http://www.charltontoylibrary.co.uk/

I’d love to know more about what sorts of toys they most need so that I can tweet about it and encourage my friendship network to support. And I’d also like to know what arrangements there are for dropping off toys that are being donated. Can’t see anything on the toy library website, so anything you know would be helpful.
    Thanks

Saminus thank you so much for your interest in our appeal. Charlton Toy Library does provide toys for children up to the age of 7, but mainly up to the age of 5. We usually request that the toys are in a good condition and are not sex specific. Some examples are educational toys, construction toys, toys that encourage imagination and dressing up clothes. The toys can be dropped off during one of our morning sessions that are run Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 9:30-12:30, just mention to the person on desk that they are for the toy appeal. If you need any more information please e-mail me at charltontoylibrary@gmail.com

      Thanks Stella!
For those of us with jobs in town, the drop off times aren’t great.
Any suggestions on out of hours/ weekend drop offs?
      Sam
